Mid-project evaluation

Mid-project evaluation

Discuss what you intended to do as part of the project, has the idea changed?

For my project I intended to portray the use of floral arrangements and flowers within photography as a form of abstract art, my idea has drifted slightly as I originally was just going to take images and display them in a slightly altered way but as my work has developed, I have steered myself towards more experimental work and using different mediums for my work. I intend to use more physical alterations when editing my images, like using needle and thread to add a three dimensional aspect to my images as well as experimenting with the different editing effects Photoshop offers and using tutorials to ensure that my edited images are to the best of my ability.

What shoots were most successful?

I feel that so far my most successful shoots are my studio work (shoots 4 to 7) as it was easier to create well refined images in the style of my research influence(s). I also feel that my level of experimentation within this shoots add an aspect of uniqueness to my work and add a bit more excitement to the project as well, in terms of taking the actual pictures I favour these shoots due to the level of detail to the images as well as the editing aspect.

What aspect of the work requires improvement (e.g. a shoot, a technique, etc.)?

Prior to the above mentioned shoots I felt I needed to improve my editing processes as my experimentation within shoots 1-3 were lacking but I feel that by this I can show how my work further develops within the shoots following these ones, I also feel that I need to improve my writing when it comes to explaining my editing process.

Where do you see the work progressing (identify future shoots that you would like to do.

I see my work progressing continuously between shoots, as there are already major differences between the pictures taken for my first shoots to the pictures taken for my most recent ones as I am constantly learning more about my photography and my camera settings, I can also see my style of editing progressing significantly as it has started off with plain and black and white edits to kaleidoscope style images and physical editing. For my future shoots I hope to become more experimental with how I actually take the images as well as how I touch up and edit them, which I am already diverting myself towards achieving.
